Scots have migrated all over the world and have often had a profound impact on the areas where they settled. The Scottish Diaspora Tapestry project brings together stories from such communities, documenting their Scottish connections in 305 embroidered panels.The complete tapestry will be on display in the Exhibition Gallery at New Lanark World Heritage Site on its way home from a world-wide tour. The Tapestry is a heart-felt homage to the determination, courage and achievement of Scottish migrants and their descendants across the centuries.

By Car / Coach: New Lanark is around an hour's drive from Glasgow (25 miles/40 kms) or Edinburgh (35 miles/56 Kms) and is well sign-posted from all major routes. Code for Sat. Nav. ML11 9BY PLEASE NOTE: Some online route planners and Sat Nav devices give directions to enter New Lanark via The Beeches. However this country track is NOT recommended for vehicles. Please follow brown road signs which will direct you to New Lanark via Hyndford Road.
By Train: 2 every hour (1 every hour on Sundays) from Glasgow Central or Motherwell to Lanark railway station (1.5 miles/2.5 km from New Lanark). Local buses and taxis at the bus stance, adjacent to Lanark Railway station and Lanark Visit Scotland Information Centre.
