About

A multi award winning Lake District hideaway, Askham Hall is a 13th-century Grade 1 listed Pele Tower house with a newly Michelin starred/ 4 AA rosette restaurant and 19 luxurious bedrooms. It has been in the Lowther family for over 200 years. The antithesis of the traditional country house hotel - a bohemian style home from home.

Head chef Richard Swale specialises in glorious wild and home grown produce from the family estate. While food and drink has always been at the heart of what we do, we believe we have far more to offer.

Charming original features compliment modern furnishings. Individually designed rooms, outdoor pool, hot tub and stunning gardens. Views of the River Lowther and surrounding area. With over 1000 years of history we can honestly say that we have a...Read More

Charming original features compliment modern furnishings. Individually designed rooms, outdoor pool, hot tub and stunning gardens. Views of the River Lowther and surrounding area. With over 1000 years of history we can honestly say that we have a real sense of place. From the Pele Tower to the bounteous kitchen gardens, from the foaming River Lowther after which the owners were named centuries ago, to open expanses of Askham Fell, from age old stone circles and fell top Roman roads to historic houses and castles; from wide horizons to natural plunge pools; from the native shorthorn cattle, red deer and rare breed pigs roaming our land to the extensive and well stocked wine cellar, it is all quite literally on our doorstep, waiting to be discovered.
